Member Celia Harper is a highly talented musician and composer, and recently had her work honoured in a special way:
A short unaccompanied song for which Celia wrote both words and music -“My love gave me an apple” was chosen to be sung at the State Funeral of an eminent Canadian politician last Sunday.
Ed Broadbent was a great advocate for women’s rights and a supporter of indigenous tribes and there were tributes from all over Canada. He was only the 2nd politician ever to be awarded a State Funeral.
The service went out to 5 million people via TV and radio and her piece was sung by the acclaimed counter-tenor Daniel Taylor.
Pretty special, congratulations to Celia.
Lovely. Well done Celia
