Huge congratulations to our member Vicky Bagley for this winning entry in our monthly internal writing competition. The theme – you guessed it – was dinosaurs, and we love this poem!
Dinosaur, O Dinosaur, where did you go?
They say you were killed by a large space rock
But I think that’s just a terrible crock
A tale spread around by liars and frauds
And men who go about wielding sharp swords
‘Cause I think you lived on, a brave champion
Just morphed into a fire-breathing bright red dragon
Until axe-bearing knights tried killing you off
While persuading young maidens to love and take-off
But folk lore insists that the dragons aren’t gone
They’re hiding in caves ‘til your reign is done
And out they will fly to reclaim their fair land
The dragon, the dinosaur, but no sign of Man
